The Fire and Brimstone of this Week's Musical Ministry:

13 and God
Not really one band but two!!! German punkrockers turned wierd sound scapers turned folkglitch kings, The Notwist and American alternorap hiptrip experimentalists, Themselves. In a marriage not quite made in Munich. Weird and wonderful sonic beatscapes with cyclical inventive wordsmithery. Sounds like a recipe for disappearing up one's own musical alimentary canal, but somehow it, miraculously it doesn't, and Thank God, 13&God that is.

The dripping candle wax of this week's musical SnM was provided by:

The New Pornographers

The New Pornographers are a sometimes 9 piece, sometimes 7 piece out of Vancouver. Under the songwriting leadership of A.C. Newman and a gang of very talented musicians. Their melodic talents and lyricism, we're sure, will guarantee them a bright, bright future at the heart of inventive rock. Dude!

Bob Moog

Robert Moog, Inventor

Born: 23 May 1934

Birthplace: New York, New York
Died: 21 August 2005

Best Known As: The guy who invented the Moog synthesizer

While a graduate student in engineering in New York, Robert Moog wrote a magazine article introducing do-it-yourself kits to build the electronic musical instrument known as the Theremin. In 1954 he founded a company that sold Theremin kits, and he began to dabble in electronic circuitry to create and modulate electronic sounds. The result was the Moog synthesizer. In 1968 Wendy Carlos (then Walter Carlos) released the Grammy-winning album Switched-on Bach, played entirely on a Moog. The synthesizer quickly became a significant instrument for pop musicians, played by groups like The Monkees and The Beatles (who used it on Abbey Road) and contributing to the amped-up sound of the disco era. Moog continued to manufacture and sell electronic musical instruments until his death in 2005.
Moog rhymes with "rogue."... Moog held a PhD in engineering physics from Cornell University... He was the subject of a 2004 documentary, Moog.

NEWS: When Science goes brain-wrong

Bizarre and strange goings-on on the DIY Chart Show this week, when the popular Pilot of the Ship, MeTom (29), was turned into a baby by a science experiment that went brain-wrong!

During a routine science experiment carried out by the Ship's lovely Chief Scientific Officer, Prof. MeLoveYouLongTime, a stray beam from the HartleyRools Infantitron 500, caught the intrepid MeTom square between the nostrils and reverted him back into his infancy!!!!

The HartleyRools Infantitron 500 is normally used to test whether a song is timeless. It blasts a steady stream of juvinatrons at the song and if the song really is timeless then the juvinatrons will bounce harmlessly off. Reversing the polarity will send a beam of wrinklitron particles.

During the testing of the The House of Love's Christine a stray beam of concentrated Juvinatron particles caught the helpless MeTom right on the conk turning him into a wee baby.

On further investigation it was found that the Hartleyrools Infantitron had in fact broken. Prof. MeLoveYouLongTime's attempt to reverse the polarity unfortunately destroyed the Flux-capacitor beyond repair. An enquiry has been called by the stand-in pilot MePaul, to investigate whether there was any foul play.

MeRobin was not available for comment and the other members of the crew made only this short statement, "Where's the nearest pub, ya basta*ds?"

see these shocking before and after pictures:
